Happy Book Birthday and Informal LBC: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

Today is the day! There have been so many great releases this summer (with more to come!) and today is the day that Forever by Maggie Stiefvater was released. I have it downloaded on the nook, but to be honest, I'm a little afraid to start. I am scared of what Maggie will do to my emotions! She revels in our pain, I tell you! (Kidding, sort of. But really, don't all the great YA writers like to mess with us just a little? It was makes their books worth reading.)

Anyway, since we did a formal (hah) Lazy Book Club on both Shiver and Linger last summer (that Maggie herself commented on!!), I thought we'd have an information LBC for Forever right here. So, after you've read, feel free to come back and post your thoughts in the comments - and feel free to post spoilers! (That being said, DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS until you've finished the book!) Since I haven't started yet, obviously I won't be posting yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing what you all thought of Forever!

  3. I'm still in my post-FOREVER haze, but I'll give this a shot.

First, I adore Maggie's writing. It's always hard for me to settle into the point-of-view changes, but as soon as I do, I love it. And I love the way she is able to put you in the moment. And, this line: "There is no better taste than this: someone else's laughter in your mouth." *dreamy sigh*

Second, COLE! I was lying in bed, late last night almost in tears. I was certain that Cole had died and it did not even occur to me (until they couldn't find his body) that he had perhaps lived. When I read, "Da," I let out my breath. Cole kind of stole the show, in my opinion. So well done.

Third, Sam and Grace. One of my favorite love stories ever.

Fourth, The End. I was (am) a little emo about this being the end of the Mercy Falls story, but I loved how it ended. Leigh always jokes that I am an optimist, and I suppose I am because, for me, this book ended with hope. I believe that the cure did work, and that Sam and Grace had that future that they dreamed about. It's hard not to believe that Cole would succeed. And, I like to believe in the Happily Ever After, so that's how I'm taking this.

Oh, and one last thing - Sam and Grace together as wolves? LOVE LOVE LOVE.

    That is all. :)
